Friday ipod Challenge Now W/ Mojo Love Fest!

It's time to take a break from all the bickering. Turn on your ipod, (or zune or whatever),  hit shuffle, and report the first ten songs that play. It's simple, it's fun, and you just might find some new music to groove to. Just follow the simple rules.

Hey, theres gotta be rules!!

Rule number one; Faithfully report the first ten songs that come up on random play. No Cheating! Maybe you forgot there was a copy of "Afternoon Delight" buried in the thousands of tracks on your ipod - well, tough titties, bucko! We all have skeletons in our ipods - embrace them!

Rule number two; If you have mojo and recs to give, you must give them with wild abandon, like a teenager on extasy. Go on, kiss everyone in the room... you know you want to!

Rule number three; Obey rules number one and two.

And now my first ten...

1) Sleeper Car / Thievery Corporation / Sounds From the Thievery Corporation Hi-Fi
An excellent start. If you don't know Thievery Corporation, check them out.
    Serious chill out music.

2) Joining a Fan Club / Puffy Ami Yumi
My son was really into this a couple of years ago, We saw them in concert, which
was actually more fun than it sounds.

3) It's Delovely / Mel Torme / Jackpot! (compilation)
Not the best interpretation of this song, by any metric.

4) Porcelain / Moby / Play
Lots of folks find Moby annoying - I am not among them.

5) Happy For You / Lloyd Cole / Love Story
Lloyd Cole is a great song writer, but not consistently.

6) The Earth Died Screaming / Tom Waits / Bone Machine
I loves me some Tom. L.A. Tom and N.Y. Tom. Old Tom and new Tom.

7) Smoked Pork / IceT
"Right now my job is eating these fucking donuts!"

8) Aladdin Sane / David Bowie / Aladdin Sane
    Brilliant. 'Nuff said.

9) No Action / Elvis Costello / This Years Model
    "I don't wanna kiss you / I don't wanna touch
I don't wanna see you cause I don't miss you that much"
    Ouch...

Drum roll please...

10) The Rising / Bruce Springsteen / The Rising
I think this is one of the most inspirational, heartfelt albums ever recorded -
and I am not a huge fan of the Boss.

So there they are. Nothing too embarrassing this week... What comes up for you?

Thanks! Yours seems pretty diverse. I was shopping the other day, and there was this odd, whiney  song playing, and it suddenly occurred to me that it was a slow, funeral dirge sort-of-folk cover of 'Toxic" ... shudder...

Notorious BIG...

I had horrible morning sickness with the twins.  Notorious BIG was on the radio in the car while I was driving to work.  When it hit me, all I could do was reach for a half-eaten bag of nacho cheese Doritos.

To this day, I can neither listen to Notorious BIG nor smell nacho cheese Doritos without getting sick to my stomach.

sigh...

Congratulations!!

My other two pregnancies weren't nearly as bad, that one was a doozy.

I was also a vegetarian previous to that pregnancy.  Something about carrying two children at one time really made me crave blood.

Re: Friday ipod Challenge Now W/ Mojo Love Fest! (none / 0)

Welllll maybe I can recommend something for you- what kind of music do you normally like, and what are a few favorite albums?

I am a music snob/pig. It's something like 138gb.  Some of the best stuff is encoded Lossless, but it's still along the lines of 31,000 songs.  It's just that I love so much music!!  How to choose!

Plus- I NEVER delete anything.  I firmly believe there are two kinds of parents- those that threw their records out, and those that kept them and put the good ones on the bottom shelf for the kids to listen to.  I had the latter kind, and I DEFINITELY hope to be the latter kind!
