NC-Sen: Dole Only Leading By Four, Will Need Money

Via Swing State Project:

Anzalone Liszt Research for Kay Hagan (5/14-21, likely voters):

Kay Hagan (D):          44
Elizabeth Dole (R-inc): 48
    (MoE: ±3%)

As pointed out at SSP, this poll was conducted before Dole began her statewide media campaign. But a similar SUSA poll conducted over a similar period also showed only a four-point margin for Dole, and the latest PPP poll shows a larger, eight-point Dole lead, but with a smaller sample and 14% undecided.

Short version: John Ensign better hope those fundraising emails are working, because he's got a lot of defense to play.

Update [2008-6-4 18:40:9 by Josh Orton]: You say you want John Ensign to work harder and golf less? Then go here to support Hagan.

Huckabee is about to campaign for her. See below. Here's his email in full, attacking Obama.

Relevant, as McCain may have to pick Huckabee as a desperate attempt to mobilize his base... not that it will work, of course.

Two quick hits:

1) There's no mention of John McCain in this message.
2) I'm guessing #3 isn't a poll-tested message.

Senator Obama is the Democrat presidential nominee. So where does he stand on the issues?

  1. He supports abortion.
   2. He supports amnesty.
   3. He supports universal health care.
   4. He supports new federal spending.
   5. He supports raising our taxes.

And the list goes on. Senator Obama's vision for America and his view of the role government should play in our daily lives is dramatically different than our own understanding of government and the conservative vision of America.

Across America, Democrats with similar views of government are running for office hoping to ride what they believe will be a great wave of "change" into office.

Who will stand against them? Who will support our Republican candidates?

I will and I hope you will stand with me. Through Huck PAC, I will be working overtime to assist Republican candidates that share our values. I will campaign for them, we will support them financially, we will give them a platform to speak with voters and we will actively promote their campaigns to our friends, family and within our communities.

On Friday I am headed to North Carolina to campaign for Elizabeth Dole and this weekend I will campaign for Bob Clegg in New Hampshire.

While I am campaigning for these candidates, I ask that you do three things for me:

1. Email or call a friend and ask them to sign up for my Huck PAC emails.

2. Join the discussion on our blog.

3. And make a contribution of $25 or more if you haven't yet supported Huck PAC financially.

Thank you again for your continued support.  I will email you again from the campaign trail this weekend.

With deep gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

Re: NC-Sen: Dole Only Leading By Four, Will Need M (none / 0)

It's always funny when the conservatives run a talking point that stands on it's own as a talking point for us.
You know, when people here it they say, "That's a BAD thing?"

Another hilarious talking point that makes me wonder who is doing Republican polls:
" Yeah, and the Democratic candidate wants to commit funds to stop GLOBAL WARMING, snicker "

?!?

Front page candidate posts, donation link? (none / 0)

Would it be possible (or is it unseemly) to post the fundraising link for the candidates being advocated for in these front page pieces?

Re: Front page candidate posts, donation link? (none / 0)

I just asked the same question as you down thread.

It has me scratching my head.

I love the idea of group efforts like they do on Actblue.com.

Obama could really help Hagan (none / 0)

with TURNOUT OF AFRICAN-AMERICANS and the young.

With Barr in the picture who will syphon off >5% of votes, North Carolina is definitely in play.

Re: Obama could really help Hagan (none / 0)

Now if the Libertarians could just find someone to suck 5% away from Dole, we could have some fun.

Not really (none / 0)

You say you want John Ensign to work harder and golf less?

Actually I'd prefer he remain blissfully ignorant, incompetent and impotent.
McCain = Iraq. John McCain = overturn Roe.

This was before Liddy ran a bunch of ads, so the next poll will likely show a larger lead for her.  But she remains in trouble.

Re: NC-Sen: Dole Only Leading By Four, Will Need M (none / 0)

Dole is showing her cards with her early ads - its gonna be all immigration, all the time.  Nothing like a little fear of losing your job to make you vote Republican - at least that's what Liddy thinks.

This is a modern day, updated version of Jesse Helms' racist ads.

Hey, it worked so well for Randy Graf, Henry Bonilla.  And look at all the success Tom Tancredo had running for President...oh, wait.

Hot In NC (none / 0)

Its hot in NC right now - going to be 97 tomorrow. Most people won't be paying too much attention until it cools down around Labor Day. By then hopefully Sen. Hagan will have enough kitty to run a real statewide campaing. Given the expected large A-A vote for Obama she will do well regardless. Democrats are strong in NC with strong candidates all over the ballot. With a strong Presidential race that will neutralize what had been a perennial Republican advantage. Running two women with a strong female candidate for Governor (DEM) will help as well. Believe it or not if certain events take place (not all DEM though) that NC will have perhaps the most women in senior statewide positions in a state in all of the US.

US Senate
Governor
Sec. of Public Instruction
Sec. of State
Sec. of Labor
Auditor of State
State Treasurer

Thats 7 out of 12 seats statewide. Who knew?
